We are looking for HEALTHY subjects to participate in a study. To take part, you must be 18-60 years of age, right-handed, and meet additional criteria.
If you choose to take part, you will be scheduled to attend 2 visits at the Queen Elizabeth II Health Sciences Centre to participate in the trial. You will be compensated for your time at a rate of $50 per visit and will receive a picture of your brain.
We will scan your brain while you receive heat stimuli. Your brain will be studied with an MRI machine, but we will not inject any tracers into your body.
The purpose of this study is to investigate ways to improve care for people suffering with chronic pain.
The MRI test will be performed in Biomedical Translational Imaging Centre (BIOTIC). BIOTIC is located on the 3rd floor of the Halifax Infirmary building (3900-1796 Summer St, Halifax, NS B3H 3A7).

- Have a diagnosis of Fibromyalgia syndrome (fibromyalgia or Myalgic encephalomyelitis /Chronic Fatigue Syndrome)
- Be 18-60 years of age
- Be right-handed
- Have no history of neurological conditions such as multiple sclerosis, Alzheimers
- Have normal vision or vision corrected with glasses or contact lenses.

Take part in a study and get a picture of your brain.You will be reimbursed $50 per visit (total of $150) and will receive a 2D image of your brain.
Participation includes completing questionnaires, computer tasks, and a
heat pain task. Your brain will be studied with an MRI machine, but we will
not inject any tracers into your body. If you take part, you will be
scheduled to attend 3 visits at the Halifax Infirmary and/or Dickson
Building of the Victoria General Hospital.
- Have chronic low Back Pain for more than 6 months
- Be 18-60 years of age
- Be right-handed
- Have no history of neurological conditions
- Have normal vision, or vision corrected with glasses or contact lenses
